Nationwide campaign on software piracy launched
A campaign focused on educating industry players and end-users on the legal and
security risks of using pirated software has been launched. Last year, a total of
53 enforcement cases were taken against corporate software piracy which saw the
seizure of 253 computers and peripherals and 1,605 copies of suspected pirated software.
The total seizure of both hardware and software valued at RM9.5 million.

A Risky Gamble: The Right Time for Correct Licensing
The campaign against piracy
is heating up. The Ministry of Domestic Trade Co-Operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC)
and the Business Software Alliance (BSA) are launching Ops Semak, a joint operation
that will strike offending businesses across the nation. Microsoft recommends Software
Asset Management (SAM) as a set of best practices that will help any organisation,
big or small, to control costs and business risks, optimise existing software investments,
and support the company’s growth by anticipating future software needs.
